Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Joya Negra, meaning 'Black Jewel' in Spanish, got her name for the way her black scales reflect the sunlight when she walks under it. She was found as a young hatchling, amongst a pile of eggs, with no one around. Because of that, she grew up to be quite shy for her breed, never starting any interaction with the other dragons of the clan. However, some of the friendlier dragons took the challenge of getting her to open up, talking with her, dragging her along on walks or hunting trips, or just being there with her. With time, she started to trust her clan, and is now a formidable fighter that can fend away even dragons bigger than her.
