Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very light and enjoys bouncing all around.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

User Description

Calectasia was found as an egg, far too warm and very sick. The Dragon Keeper who found her felt bad for the egg, so she called for her Gray Dragons to surround the egg in a cold fog, to cool the egg down.

It took a long time in the fog, but eventually the egg was well enough to hatch. The small, pinkish hatchling floated into the air and looked around, like most hatchlings do. But whenever she tried to make a sound, a weak, almost metallic sound was all that could be heard, and she was slow to gain the telepathy that all dragons have. As the hatchling grew, her voice grew steadily weaker. The Dragon Keeper figured that when Calectasia became an adult dragon, she would be unable to make any sound at all, and the young Balloon Dragon knew it too.

When Calectasia had grown wings, and finally gained the ability to communicate with telepathy, she told the Dragon Keeper of her desire to stay a hatchling, and keep what remained of her metallic voice.
