Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

The Cheese twins hatched in Lagie's cave at the same time as the Ylla Says twins and the Water Turp twins. The Cheese twins consider themselves brother and sister and are seldom apart.

Both Cheese twins complain incessantly about nightmares, more specifically, about one nightmare they both share. In it, they say, they hear music and are gradually joined in a dell by a farmer, his wife, a child, a nurse, a dog, a cat, and a rat. For Lone, this is where the dream ends, with the two cheese dragons standing alone being hungrily stared at. For poor Bite, his dream ends with all of them taking bites of him. He always wakes screaming and has to be consoled by Lone.

Lone hopes that one day these dreams will stop and she'll be able to get a full night's sleep. She's so sleepy most days she falls asleep during her meals.
