Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Gummy Lindwyrm has never been quite the same after a magical mishap that temporarily transformed him into an adult mageaxeno. His native feeling for emotions melded with the magical sense of the temporary form, and he proclaimed the realisation that emotions, just like magic, are composed of elements. He has been working hard to isolate these elements and determine how to use them ever since. His current theory is that there are thirteen emotional elements sorted into fours, like the normal elements—interpersonal (respect, loyalty, kindness, love), material (appreciation, generosity, want, aesthetics) and internal (dignity, honesty, laughter, courage) plus the unaligned calm, equivalent to balance mana. He may be physically stunted due to overexposure to mana at a young age, and his body completely rubbery, but he has a position in Seven Questions University's Fundamental department. He hopes to use his system to develop spells to heal broken hearts and other icky Valentine's things.
