It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ophleilia is  an extremely shy dragon. She hardly even talks to the members of her own clan, only speaking when she has to. When meeting someone new, she just stands back and lets someone else introduce her, maybe giving a mumbled greeting.

Oddly enough, the only thing that will get her talking is Shakitha, the strict female shield dragon who thouroughly hates Ophleilia's guts. Those two drive each other absolutely crazy, and will argue for hours if someone doesn't stop them. Ophleilia's mood will instantly darken if someone mentions "that grouchy, insolent, snappy oversized lizard" around her, as will Shakitha's if you mention "that prissy, whining, over-groomed baby."

Ophleilia is a very sweet and caring dragon, although she's not very tough and worries about her appearance quite a bit. She will always try her best to help someone in need.
