Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Despite what some would consider a high-born status, Morana feels no loyalty to her birth coven. She doesn't really care what happens to her coven, so long as the people live on and thrive. She is sympathetic to "low-born" individuals, as it is rumored that she was only converted as part of a botched assassination attempt. She was born with the gifts of prophesy and empathy, before she was converted, and as a result both abilities got a subsequent boost. She could use her ability to compel others, but she refuses to do so as it goes against her personal code of conduct. She only ever compels others in the event of an emergency when anothers' life is in jeopardy. Some say something went wrong when she was bitten, since she has no interest in other dragons' blood and instead feeds off animals. She is stubborn as an ox, and ambitious to a fault. Since she is aware of her weaknesses, she does her best to change herself for the better in an effort to eliminate them.
