Cassare Dragons are known for their magic-deadening abilities. Though not a conscious ability, a large field surrounds the dragon through which magic is passively nullified. This field is strongest near the dragon itself, and falls off with distance. The absence of magic often makes other creatures avoid them, though some will have the opposite reaction and seek refuge instead. It has also caused them to be hunted, as though the field is severely weakened once dead, their bones and scales retain some of the effect. Possessing such an item is considered a necessity by those who expect to face hostile magic.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

The minds of others fascinated her as no dull thing ever could, and so she learned as much as she could about them. Social, active, in love with the diversity of thought, she wanted to find nothing more than friendship... but it was not so easily discovered as she'd hoped. Humans and dragons shied away from her, hissing threats should she approach, and those few souls who did approach her often were hideously twisted, terrifying her off in her turn. It was an unpleasant way of living, but she bore it. Until one sorcerer too badly frightened hired mercenaries to take her head, the dragon barely escaping with her life, stumbling half-broken into the lair of another beast. The dragon there took her in without a second thought, nursing her wounds, caring for her... offering friendship. And, for her, something more.

Until she healed, and the magi dragon realized just what he had befriended, as his magic fell dead around him. Horrified, he fled her--and left a wound which would never mend.
