Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. An enigmatic but harmless individual, Ball Guy happily hands out ball gifts to people who approach him and also to those who achieve something public and notable. People are pretty sure he's a "he", but he likes to make himself more mysterious than is really necessary. The spherical presents he distributes are colorful and smooth and come in a variety of patterns, but their origin and purpose are unknown. Their being ball-shaped suggests they should be thrown, but they don't look like mere toys. Still, recipients like this cheery individual and tend to be unable to part with their ball gifts, saying the objects are just too nice.
