Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

From birth, Kim knew that his fate was to be the mate of the beautiful Shimmerscale, Raphijia. He embraced this fate, and devoted himself to her, seeking only to please and love her. Raphi adored him, and his life would've been perfect if not for the strange dislike the Enchantress seemed to have against him. When another royal blue was brought to court Raphi, Kim was crestfallen, seeing that this other Royal was much finer than he, and he retreated, believing himself undeserving of Raphi. However, Raphi chose Kim over the other dragon, enraging the Enchantress. Kim was terrified that he would be Disgraced, but Raphi insisted upon him remaining her mate, and so Kim stayed.

The two are loving partners and spend nearly all their time together. Wherever Raphijia may go, her darling Kim will always be at her side.
