And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Poor Kooa is a very unfortunate hatchling. Despite being a sunrise hatchling born to the Dutchess Rennay, she is still frowned upon. Most pity her but, others are disgusted by her. Nobody knows who the real father of the hatchling is. The Dutchess swears it is a rogue male but, others have their suspicions that is a member of the clan. The hatchling resembles the Count Drachma and the Counts mate has spread rumors about the Dutchess's plot to take her place. Although this had been denied by the Count and the Dutchess, the Kooa remains, proof to a lie not yet uncovered.
