Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kamama may be one of the first dragons in the cave, but she is often mistaken for a new dragon. She pretty much keeps to herself and tries not to get in the way. This is due to the fact that, unlike most of the other dragons, her parents are in the same cave as her. Her parents, Asleen and Sulo, are pretty popular throughout the cave and smothered her throughout her childhood. She is constantly pegged as "Asleen and Sulo's daughter" and tends to withdraw, preferring solitude to company, no matter how friendly. She was never left alone to make friends and have fun without her parents around, so it's only natural that she, despite loving them deeply, avoids them.
