Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sun Rising on the Horizon, a female Sunrise dragon, is one of the few, but growing number of scholars residing in the Sinadel valley. She lives here with her scholarly friend, Sun Setting on the Horizon, a Sunset. However, they come from completely different backgrounds. Sun Rising on the Horizon used to belong to dragons in a library, completely engaged in study of the world around them. One day, a fire swept though the dragon outpost that the library was located in. Even though all of the dragon librarians managed to escape with the most important documents and books, the rest burnt down with the library. Because defense of these rare books would be harder while re-building the town, the oldest books were given to Sun Rising on the Horizon with the directions to a peaceful valley that a traveler that had been passing though had given to the library. With Kradiocan's help, there is a spell on the books so none other than Sun Rising may take them out of the valley.
