Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A few centuries ago Reiva crawled into a high nook in the clan cave and has never come out since. Although her fellow dragons' predilections for violence and near-insanity were not as apparent then, they were salient enough to disturb this sensitive hatchling. The clan's daydreams eschew her unmoving form, so she rarely dreams anything of interest. Nonetheless, to her, this half-life thinking of nothing above is preferable to the clamor and danger below.
