Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Selsa's warrior lineage goes way back, her father, grandfather, and so on all being warriors. She is the first female to be born along her father's line in hundred's of years, and the blood of champions burns strong within her. Although she has not gained the wisdom that comes with age, as she is rather young, she still is almost as powerful as male counterparts, and she is significantly stronger than other females of her breed. Although not very wise or experienced due to her age, and actually rather hasty and rash, she is very good thinking on her feet when put into tight situations. Still being young, she already has a cold-blooded outlook on life, and while not the most forgiving foe, she does occasionally show compassion to those close to her.
