Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Mageia, found exclusively in desert regions, are thought to be the wisest Xenowyrm subspecies. Due to their knowledge of the magi element, they are able to cast a variety of magics, including teleportation. Their beautiful yellow scutes are reflective and smooth like glass, making them very valuable to collectors.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Adam Pierson is a young academic dragon. Conceived, born, and  grown up in the hallowed halls of Delirium's Academy there was little else to expect. He stays away from the internal politics and power struggles and spends his time studying the oldest texts available after discovering his knack for old and mostly forgotten languages and alphabets. There are few letters Pierson won't be able to identify and decipher, be they dragon, human, or otherwise.

Most of the other dragons underestimate Pierson as 'just' a bookworm and believe he wouldn't be able to hold himself in a fight. He does his best to encourage that thinking by using his magic and body language to appear smaller and more harmless. In his experience it's best to avoid fighting if at all possible. But that doesn't mean he is quite as harmless as most think. He always keeps a wary eye on potential enemies, studying their methods making sure he will be ready if they ever decide to come after him.
