Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Some say the blood of the Twilight clan runs not red, but gold, and that is why the daughters of Twilight are strong, loyal, brave...and very wealthy. Otoru is the fifth heir of Twilight's Sunshine, a minor noble, and she has inherited all the snobbery and riches that come with her title. As for her mate, well, that was a matter of finding some other minor noble who would put up with her. Cipaf is very accommodating—rumor has it, the Spirits of Love may have had shenanigans with an ancient relative—and quietly submits to Otoru's ever-growing list of necessities that has lately expanded to include a human circus (check), a personal magician (working on it), and a castle (um, hello, nobility).
