Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

After Nadtsceit hatched, she was naturally rebellious. She flew after dusk, played pranks then ran away with her fast legs, and caused her owner's scrolls to fly everywhere with the wind she made with her wings. Many of Ryoko's slowly growing family shunned the wild dragon- especially Reinir Nyxnei. He tried everything he could to stop Nadtsceit's rebelliousness, but as she grew up it only got worse. One night, Reinir followed her while she was doing her night-flying. Suddenly a storm broke out and Nadtsceit was about to be hit by lightning. However, Reinir blocked her and took all the damage. Nadtsceit, who was in a panic, flew back to get Ryoko. They arrived just in time to save the Sunset dragon's life. The next day, Nadtsceit admitted that she looked up to Reinir and she was acting rebellious to get his attention. Since then, the two dragons have been inseparable.
