Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Tomoko is, more than anything else, a sweet dragon. She doesn't like conflict and won't fight unless it's absolutely necessary, and even then she's hesitant. She knows few fighting moves, preferring to hide behind the more experienced fighters in her group. She has committed herself to raising eggs and hatchlings and helping to teach them how to care for themselves. She adores her children, and is especially close to Shiika. She doesn't always get along with her mate Raz but their relationship isn't horrible as she's still the only dragon that will defend him no matter what he does.
