Ice Dragons are fierce predators who hunt using their extremely cold breath. The breath of an ice dragon can freeze its prey solid in seconds. The body of an ice dragon is so cold that icicles will form along its skin no matter the outside temperature.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Winterborn Child's owner always tells her that she was named after a short but lovely story that was locked away in the depths of only the owner's mind. Winterborn doesn't quite understand, and occasionally pesters her owner to find out more about this story, but she is always given a shake of the head and told to go eat with the other dragons or do some mundane task. She's a somewhat sweet young dragoness, a bit introverted and quiet, especially when approached by other dragons or humans. However, she has been known to occasionally break down, hiding her head under her icy claws and shivering as if terrified of something. Some say she's a ticking bomb, that some unknown thing is slowly dragging her into madness. She never denies the claims. Winterborn realizes that she is going mad from loneliness, which is due to her own secretive and secluded nature, but she cannot seem to bring herself out of her own protective bubble. She hopes that one day some other dragon will help her.
