Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Due to her life-mate's slight delusions concerned with being, oh, the Emperor of the known World, Melcena is a proud creature, considering herself an Empress or, at the very least, an Empress's equivalent as a result. When she is not looking down her snout at her fellows, this calculating dragoness does take pleasure from fine music or art and has always had an appreciation for artistic endeavors and musical entertainment. While Melcena does not completely buy into Molvan's imperial ideas, she supports him all the same; in her mind, his character and natural born magnificence merits him to be an Emperor, and that is more than enough for her.
