Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For many years Yulecharm had considerable trouble finding a place to call home—she spent the winter traveling, like any respectable Christmas dragon, but needed somewhere to spend the other nine months of the year.  Weyrs isolated enough to be comfortable also tended to be too insular to accept outsiders, but Yulecharm didn't want to spend the majority of the year with nobody to talk to.  Then, one year, Yulecharm encountered a pair of magi dragons.  Merlyn held no particular interest for her, but she immediately became fast friends with his companion Fulnar.  She gladly agreed to come live at Argent Mountain, and now spends much of her time helping Violet to encourage a spirit of goodwill and openness in introverted and rather paranoid Lady Altevrys.
