Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male Silvers hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Chance's good fortune began when his egg was laid.  The first silver after nearly two dozen magi siblings, he was spoiled and indulged by both parents, especially normally pessimistic and withdrawn Lady Altevrys.  Chance never failed to get whatever he asked for and escaped most of the usual hatchling traumas, and should by all rights have grown up unbearable to live with, especially since his lucky streak seems to be permanent.  However, while Chance is slightly vain (not an uncommon trait for a silver dragon), he's modest enough to recognize that luck, not skill, brought him most of the success he now enjoys.  Rather than expect the adoration he enjoyed as a hatchling to continue, he instead tries to help others benefit from his good fortune and seeks to win friends through generosity and good humor.
