Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Stones was the first egg July took into her nest. She was thrilled when he finally hatched, although her excitement was dulled when she realized that he had a growth hormone deficiency and hence would never grow into an adult. Still, the motherly creature could not bring herself to abandon him, and so she kept him as her special helper. Stones is far smarter than his appearance leads others to believe, and stronger than most would think. He is July's permanent helper, building little nests for eggs or hatchlings out of the rocks he always gathers.
