Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its scales are a radiant off-white color.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Some call Hiczi irresponsible, though he is always on top of things. "Hiczi, get down from there!" is a common refrain and in some cases, the most obvious sign of his presence. He might be up a tree, or on rooftops, or piles of miscellaneous stuff, standing on his hindlegs and with his wing feathers tangled together "fashionably" so that if he did fall, he would doubtless hurt himself. When asked why he didn't do his homework, he insists, "I was going to, I was totally on top of it, but then then everyone told me to get off!" Most likely, this means he was standing on top of his homework; whether he would actually complete the assignment if nobody told him to get down from wherever he has chosen is debatable. Formulated Phrase keeps suggesting everyone let Hiczi hurt himself in the hopes that he would learn from the experience, but that is not acceptable for some of the less-callous members of society.
