And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Nobody, not even the Pink hatchling herself, knows why she keeps King (a female Gold) company. King is notorious for being a delusional, gender-confused madman, and it doesn't even seem like the Pink enjoys listening to the Gold's rants. Some speculate that the Pink has an obligation to keep King in check, but in truth, nobody knows why the Pink hangs around. The Pink herself is a very quiet one, so it might take a long time to see why she stays with the most crazed dragon in the cave.
