Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Stars Lord's story is a strange one. The adventurous dragon decided to leave his cave one night and go exploring for a few hours. He continued this for about a week, always venturing a little farther away from home. One time, he found a cave hidden at the back of a canyon. Being curious, the nebula strode boldly through the mouth of the cave and, feeling along the walls in the darkness, made his way forward until it reached a large room where it found a cluster of glowing white bubbles floating halfway between the floor and the ceiling. Lord contemplated them for a moment, then tentatively touched the surface of the lowest one. A blinding light filled the cavern, and then he was alone. Something was different, though: his consciousness had expanded and could see everything, and could change things too. He had accidentally acquired omnipotence. Only one day passed before he was discovered and returned to normal by a group of wizards who also found him a home in the Hunluan clan.
