Bright-Breasted Wyverns are a breed of dragon easily recognized by their bright red markings. They are a small breed, only the size of a full-grown man. However, they have developed poisonous barbs on their feet to make up for their size. Their coloration is used to warn off potential predators of the danger, and is also used to attract mates. They are very social, and can often be seen preening in large groups.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

David's parents were both serious and straight dragons. David was nothing like them, adventurous, brave and with a vivid imagination, he would often run off at night and imagine himself the protagonist of an epic quest in search for the captive princess. While some gentle dragons were very tolerant of his games, others not so, and thus David would often get into trouble. Ashamed of him, David's parents decided to end his life. David fled to the wild and roamed alone for many days, until he accidentally entered Sofia's territory.

The female tried to throw him out, but David saw something special in her. She was his princess, so he stubbornly held his ground. Impressed by his bravery and gentle nature, Sofia let him stay. They soon became friends, and later mates. David gave her the peace and calm she needed, and she was to him a fantasy come true.
