Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Barnacle Baby was discovered as an abandoned egg. No one seems to know how her egg came to be that way or what happened to her mother. A huntsman took in her egg, which was cold when it was found, in hopes of saving the baby dragon inside. The huntsman hatched her from the egg and helped her mature to get her wings. However he could not keep the little dragon. He knew where other dragons often came and attempted to abandon her more than ten times. Every time he abandoned her Barnacle Baby would follow him home. Realizing that he must have been meant to have this dragon he decided to finish raising her. She is now an adult, though smaller than usual because of her neglect early in life. She helps her rescuer flush game from the woods to sell. Cunning and kind she will defend the huntsman with her life because he saved hers. On one such hunt she came upon the brilliantly colored, Vulpes. The two quickly became friends and now are life mates.
