Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Faayh's mother, Feylita, was harassed as a hatchling to join the black Kallista's family, mate with one of her sons. This, of course, did not happen, and she wouldn't let it happen to her first gold daughter. While Faayh wasn't pressured into mating with Kallista's sons, she does not hold the same grudge that her mother does against the family, and ended up paired with Vasaiku, Kallista's alt.black grandson.

Faayh is not as shy in social situations as her mother, and she does not think as highly of herself. She is a huntress, going out and putting herself in danger on a daily basis, often even following Vasaiku away from the Guardian-protected hunting party to go on their own dangerous missions.
