Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts summer weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Green Shoots is often called Shooter by his friends, and most other dragons in the flock. Crystal was worried about freezing him at first, like she does with all hatchlings she casts the spell on. But he took is as good as any; or even better. Shooter is the life and soul of the hatchlings of the flock; always getting into mischief and pulling lighthearted pranks on the older dragons with his gang of other frozen hatchlings. However he is always sure to never cross the line (though he has toed it on more than one occasion) and is certainly a natural born leader.
