Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Orion is considered one of the most outspoken of the dragons in his clan. Born to a family of SpeedGates, he was expected (mainly by his mother) to find a mate within the same lineage. He instead fell in love with another Whiptail, Destiny Swiftfoot, a dragoness from a larger, more prestigious lineage. Outraged, his mother shunned him. His father supported him throughout his decision, helping him make his own home once he was ready. Because of this, he greatly admired his father, but greatly resented his mother, thinking her shallow and petty. He is prone to jealousy, once attacking and injuring the rover in his clan, Sonic Sungleam, as he tried to flirt with Destiny despite her protests. Much like his father, he is strong-willed and clever, thinking things through carefully.
