Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Regal and wise, this dragon is the grandson of a most famous dragon, although few know it. Living a peaceful life in the mountains, he is widely regarded as a sage, and many come to him to hear his advice. Few, however, imagine him to be anything more than an intelligent recluse... but he is a hero of old, one so ancient his acts have faded out of living memory, and he lives where he does for a purpose. For his home overlooks the fabled Mt. Aleph, a mountain said to contain the keys to unlocking a very powerful brand of magic. Legend has it that one day, some of the mountain's human guardians will unlock this power, at once both endangering the world and saving it from certain destruction. For the unleashing of this magic will create an event known as the Golden Sun, which can create either great joy or great despair based on who first basks in its light. It's for this reason that he is there, a silent guardian, ever watchful that no evil is allowed to threaten the mountain sanctuary.
