Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mayzie is a strange young dragon and as a hatchling xe was commonly picked on for having such a feminine name, despite being male. Xe begged xir owner to change xir name to something more fitting, but xir owner refused. Annoyed, xe eventually decided that xe wouldn't let xirself be considered as either gender, always using xir tail of pink leaves to disguise any bodily indication. When asked, xe refuses to share xir gender and tells other dragons to use gender-neutral pronouns such as "Xe" or "Xir."

Mayzie takes an enormous amount of pleasure in collecting small, dainty flowers, and xir favorites are daisies. Xe loves them so much, xe occasionally even wears them on xir head, in between xir horns. Xe is also close friends with a Winter Magi dragon, named Dragon in the Hat. Xe loves hearing about the Dragon in the Hat's large amount of silly and wacky stories from his past.
