This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling is a source of great annoyance to its tribe. When its egg opened, the other dragons believed it to be dead, and dropped it outside. About an hour later, it marched back into the cave, and exclaimed quite loudly "Who ya callin' dead!" Ever since, the dragons have referred to it by this phrase. It is known to sometimes "play dead" and shout this phrase at any dragon that tries to investigate it. For this reason, its tribe has become rather tired of it, but no one has the heart to drive it away.
