Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s chubby and pink with a faint rose-like smell.

And look! It has grown wings and the flower is blooming! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This young Rosebud dragon faced a horrible realization after she grew her wings. She was going to grow up. The other elders of the cave had told her stories about magical spells that could make a dragon forever young, so she went in search of how she could obtain such a spell. One adult in the cave let it slip that a dragon called Cryptic Cody could cast it upon her.

She found Cody, and immediately pleaded for him to cast the spell. He was appalled; no hatchling in his cave had ever been frozen before. He felt the need to warn her exactly how serious an action this was. "It can never be undone," he warned her, "You will never be able to have a family, nor reach your full size."

She didn't care; she wanted to stay young. After much persuading, Cody finally granted her wish. He cast the spell, and the aging process came to a halt within her. She has not matured physically, but being the oldest hatchling in the cave often makes it difficult to play with the newborns.
