Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

RandomDCE is considerably different from the others in the clan. He is the only one to write in a journal. He learned how to write with his mind from watching the white and Magi dragons during one of their meetings on magic. Most of the time his job in the clan is to mentor the hatchlings and teach them things such as flying. When there isn't any new hatchlings, he is then assigned to hunting duties. He is normally calm and passive, but will not be afraid to speak up and mention if something is amiss, even if it is the tinniest nitpick. He also has a dislike for Albino dragons. He clams that they just seem to "creep him out". Especially the one named White-Jackal-of-Fallen-Disgrace. It seems as if her existence just doesn't seem right somehow, he can't tell why. Despite trying to understand why he feels this way, he just can't seem to figure it out.
