Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Thievie, who thinks of himself as male, loves to tell stories. It doesn't matter if it's "The Cheesie and the Pea", how Secret Agent discovered Tricky was the one behind Kanaye's broken toaster or anything in between (though Cheesie and the Forty Thieves is his favorite). He will corner any dragon in the cave and tell story after story until that dragon manages to escape. Sir Scribe seems to be the only dragon in the cave who actually enjoys Thievie's stories, writing each down carefully and storing them in his special vault.
