Witchlight Dragons are silent, secretive beasts that haunt the most remote corners of the wilderness. They beguile their unsuspecting prey into peril by assaulting their perceptions of reality and stoking the fires of paranoia with masterfully-conjured illusions. Unwary travelers have been led astray by the soft, inviting glow of their eyes amidst a sea of encroaching darkness, never to be seen again. Those that survive a Witchlight Dragon’s psychic onslaughts do not escape unchanged: some believe that the apparitions these dragons summon to tempt or torment their victims awaken them to hidden truths about themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Noctillus used to enjoy the stilness that came upon her at sunrise, a trait inherited from her nocturne mother. She would sit like a statue in her temple, and when travellers would shelter there for the night, they would be trapped for her to play with. Nothing ever went wrong, because none of her victims ever got out.

Until one say, someone did.

Sorcerers began coming to purge the "evil spirits" from Noctillus's temple and Noctillus struggled to duel with their stronger wills. Still, she seemed to be holding her own. Then the sorcerers stopped coming, and she thought she had won.

A group of travellers came one evening to gift Noctillus a totem in tribute. She grew excited, leapt onto the totem, and pulled the cloth to admire the gift. Magical daylight orbs were imbedded in the statue and their light froze Noctillus in place. Her nocturne ancestry had betrayed her.

To this day Noctillus remains frozen on her totem, mistaken for a statue. She is now on display at a museum in the desert.
