Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Quiara is the most interesting, most intelligent Guardian dragon of her cave. When ever a stranger comes around, she manipulates her words in such a manor that the stranger doesn't even know that when they're answering, they're telling her their true intentions, and sometimes that's bad because it tells Quiara and the other Guardian on duty that they're coming to do something harmful to the cave. Once she has what she knows, Quiara will either attack the stranger or welcome them in. If she lets them in, then that's done. If they're a threat that needs to be driven away or killed, that's a different matter. Again, Quiara uses her skills and manipulates the other with what she says, leading them away or into a death trap. Yes, everyone in her cave loves and fears this dragon at the same time because they never know when she's talking to them whether she's talking normally or manipulating them for information. Only she knows.
