Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Silver females eat meat only when a male dragon brings it to them as part of courtship, though they are typically highly-independent. They possess an almost magical aura that lights up any place they are in, and are looked upon with awe by humans and animals alike.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Florene is the first Silver in the Dark Sun clan. When she came to the clan, most of its dragons had never met with any of the rare breeds, not to mention knowing how stunning they could be. Captivated by her beauty, the clan called her "Ambrosette Florene", meaning "the immortal flower".

As the Great Mother of the Cadence lineage, Florene has a high position in the clan. Her words have weight even though she rarely leaves her cave, content to have her mate taking care of her. Florene has a weakness for gems and she can spend all day staring dreamily at the colorful lights reflecting on those precious stones. With a weak trace of magic in her blood, Florene believes she can weave the light into magic threads that can make the dragons of her clan as brightly beautiful as the gems. As life gives her so many children and grandchildren, the time Florene can spare for her dream become less and less. However, Florene is now happier than ever with all the adorable hatchlings around her.
