Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Soarin's personality was clear from his first day as a mature hatchling, when he wriggled off the ledge of Nadat's cave and into the air. A rather impatient dragon, Soarin' is also highly impulsive. This leads to plenty of discussions with others in the cave when he winds up in the care of the white dragons again while they heal his wing from the latest stunt.<br/>It's not that he's accident-prone or even reckless. It's just that when the air catches his wings, Soarin' is wrapped up in the joy of flying, and things like rapidly approaching cliff faces don't seem to matter so much.<br/>Until they do. Abruptly. But he's not dead yet, and his wings are still intact, so all is well that ends well for Soarin'.
