Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Epardir (in ancient draconic, its name means "of food), being completely made of cheese, is often hunted by the duo of Emorsagul and Poiruti.  Even though Epardir has no blood, and therefore is of little interest, food-wise, to Emorsagul, he and Poiruti constantly hunt Epardir merely for the fun of it.  Epardir must constantly be on the run, as it has no way to defend itself from the two attackers.

Officially, Epardir is pro-mint in the war, but has no interest in battle, as it is one of the few dragons that can't be healed by Kirania's magic.  Also, cheese does not make a very good weapon.
