Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Rise of Starscream's Ghost is a stuck-up male shimmerscale who cares only for his own needs. He is stubborn, self-centered, and whines a lot in order to get his way. He has a nasty habit of attacking other dragons if they do anything to displease him or if they have something that he wants. However, when other dragons stand up to him, he turns into a complete coward and begs for mercy in order to avoid being injured. He is devious and highly intelligent, so even when a dragon defies him he will do everything in his ability to get revenge and achieve dominance. He believes that he is the most beautiful shimmerscale and spends a lot of time on grooming himself and bathing in the sea to maintain the shimmer of his scales. His mate, This is bad comedy, puts up with him but even she lashes out at him. In response, The Rise of Starscream's Ghost splashes water over her to get her to back off.
