As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

The State of California knows that there are a lot of dangerous things out there. The big dragons don't think these things are dangerous, but she knows these things exude bad stuff that causes a strange malady she calls 'cancer'. In order to stop her from freaking out, the big dragons tell California that yes, they realize that whatever it is—be it red meat or doors—causes cancer, and that they'll be careful. But California knows they don't pay her any mind. She keeps telling them, "Bad thing! Cause cancer!" because that's all she can enunciate. If she was better at communication, maybe she could stop the big dragons from getting sick. The only dragon who believes her is a heartseeker who calls himself "Known by the State of California to Cause Cancer", but the other big dragons think he is either crazed or giving the drake too much credit.
