Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Except for the occasional flicker of movement, it remains inanimate.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

No one knows why Seya stopped growing; she just reached a stage just before adulthood and stayed there. She doesn't seem too upset about it; in fact, she doesn't seem to be upset by anything much. She simply goes through life with a distant, glazed look in her eye. On her first Hallow's Eve, during the vigil for all the dragons that had died the year before, she deeply shocked everyone by walking to the pyre as if in a trance, calling the friends and family of the dead ones forward. They did so, and when they walked away, there were tears running down their faces; and yet, something inside them was healed. They never told anyone what she said, but everyone knows that it had a profound impact. She has done it at the vigil of every dead dragon since, and though no one but the families and friends know what she says, she has earned a name to go with her strange reputation: Seya of Souls.
