Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For a long time Tephra did not know who her parents were. That was normal in this cave—many of the dragons came from the wilderness and had never met their parents. Yet somehow she was different. The Lady hadn't picked her up far away and decided to raise her like she had the others. No, unlike them she had just appeared in the cave one day as an egg, and the Lady had decided to keep her. Or at least that was what some of the older dragons had told her.

It wasn't like she thought about it constantly, but it was like a piece of her was missing, and it wasn't until the Lady caught on to her turmoil and asked a White to read her lineage with his magic that she finally found that missing piece.

Her parents weren't from the wilderness, but from another cave—and not any cave. She was a Thuwed, one of the most prestigious lineages there was, and for a while the other dragons did not know how to treat her. But she was just who she had always been, and life returned to normal eventually.
