Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Being the son of a cave-wide star wasn't easy. It never was for Silviron. His father helped him some, but often he was away doing other business, leaving Silviron to deal with all the commotion by himself. Occasionally, his mom would try to help, but it never really worked. Poor Silviron was always by himself to work out his problems. The other hatchlings of his cave would follow him around asking him questions nonstop and bothering him while the grownups always were talking to him and asking him questions that he didn't understand. Now, even as an adult, it's not much better. He can understand the questions now, but he still has dragons of all sorts following him around. Some people want to know what fame is like. If they do, ask Silviron because he knows all about it. Actually, don't, because then he'll just get mad and growl to scare them away.
