Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glares at you from a haze of malevolent-seeming mists.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Predominate is known only for his nasty disposition and evil smoky strings. Perhaps there are things of his ilk that aren't so loathsome, but the inhabitants of Victor-Oscar have yet to identify what he even is, and very few want to get close enough to observe him, let alone interact with him. They only refer to Predominate as "he" because his harsh vocalizations reminded some folks of Dominic the shoeshiner, who was a man with an angry squeaky voice and lots of unsavory ideas. He happened to die in a boating accident that was actually kind of funny given the circumstances. Some townspeople like Florist Jess and Wino Dan believe Predominate is actually a bloody stool animated by vengeance to punish those who mistreated their livestock, so he cannot be killed, only appeased.
