Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Dakari has Peter Pan Syndrome, which prevents her from aging. She lives alongside her Friend Niharia, on the foot of the Steppecliffs on the east. Dakari is not as attached to the flow of the human village of Mistshire as Niharia is; instead she wanders the plains surrounding it. Dakari is a good friend of Niharia and sometimes helps her run her daycare. On occasion, Dakari wanders south to the cliff, to talk with Jeorge the bluna and Coyl the albino, or braves Sumbeam Wood (a dangerous place, despite the cheery name) to visit Skeik the summer-dragon and Vethrenia the dark green. In times of need, only she will brave the Drowned Mountains to call upon Thyras the Necromatic white.

Dakari loves adventure but does not want to stray far enough to find it. All the areas within a few hours' flight she has explored fully, so she contents herself with a small hoard of maps and atlases hidden in her weyr. She has tried her hand at making her own maps, but has difficulties drawing the scaling.
