Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Cheese Wedge doesn't live with the other cheese dragons. It instead lives in a storage room, guarding all the cheese wedges and refusing to let anyone remove the cheese from the room. It believes that cheese wedges are merely cheese dragon eggs, and that eating a cheese wedge is like eating a cheese dragon egg. Thus it waits in the sullen, lightless room, hoping that someday soon it'll become a parent.
